History

In December of 1992, Timothy Woods, then Music Director of Holy Family Catholic Church in Lincoln IL, conducted the first performance of Lincoln Chamber Productions, then known as the Lincoln Professional Chamber Ensemble.  Mr. Woods founded LCP with two desires:  to give worship to God through the performance of the highest quality sacred music in liturgical settings, and to perform beautiful secular and sacred music in concert settings.  For the next four years, small professional chamber concerts and recitals were produced in central Illinois, notably at Frank Lloyd Wright's Dana-Thomas House in Springfield.

In 1996, Mr. Woods moved to the Chicago metropolitan area and he formally incorporated his organization as Lincoln Chamber Productions in 1997 in order to provide an umbrella organization through which he could produce a variety of musical projects.

In 1998, LCP launched a series entitled Musicam Sacram, named after a Roman Curial document on music in the liturgy (1967) of the Roman Catholic Church.  Musicam Sacram was initiated to encourage a more faithful rendering of this document, performing beautiful examples from the Roman Catholic and Christian musical heritage.  Musicam Sacram also gave lectures and workshops on the same topic.  Our 2000-2001 season was supported in part be a generous grant of $5000 from the Driehaus Foundation.  In the fall of 2006, LCP created a new ensemble, the Ecclesia Men's Choir, a liturgical choir whose purpose it is to sing the great music of the Church, both East and West,  and help revive the esteemed tradition of men's choirs.

LCP has produced concerts and provided music for liturgy through-out the Chicago area.  These liturgies/performances have taken place at churches and universities within Chicago and the surrounding suburbs.  In August of 2011, LCP will resurrect the concept of Musicam Sacram, but call the group the Ecclesia Choirs (see this link on the left hand navigation panel of the Home Page).

LCP continues its dual mission to promote the best of both sacred and secular music, and has added to its repertoire the liturgical musical tradition of the Eastern Christian Church.   Our goal is to help facilitate good will between Catholic, Orthodox, and other Christian churches in the hope that one day, through God's grace, we will all be in communion with each other, playing and singing the praises of God with the great music of each tradition.
